When/Where is the Doggy Dash?

The Doggy Dash is Saturday April 8, 2017 at William Land Park on the corner of Sutterville Rd., and Freeport Blvd. Registration opens at 8:30a.m. and the walk begins at 10:00am. The Bark in the Park Festival goes until 3:00pm.

1. Can I register the day of the event?

Absolutely. Registration beings at 8:30a.m. the day of the event. Same-day registration for adults is $40.00 and $20.00 for children (adults are considered 13 +).

2. Can I pick up my registration packet prior to the event?

Yes. T-shirt and registration packet pick-up will be taking place on Thursday, April 6th and Friday, April 7th from 10:00 am – 7:00 pm at Fleet Fleet Sports Sacramento. Location: 2311 J Street, Sacramento CA 95816

3. Can I bring my children?

Yes. The event wouldn’t be the same without them! Pre-registration costs for children 12 and under is $15.00 and day of children’s registration is $20.00 (team registration for children is $25.00).

4. May I walk with a stroller?

Yes. Strollers are allowed in William Land Park and throughout the Doggy Dash festivities.

5. Do I need to have a dog with me to participate?

No! Come walk and support the Sacramento SPCA with or without your dog. The shelter assists pets in need other than dogs including cats, bunnies, and other small animals. Come show your support for all the animals we serve! We do ask that you only bring dogs, no other pets allowed unless for a medical/therapy reason as allowed by the law.

6. Does my dog need to be vaccinated to attend the event with me?

Yes. For everyone’s health and safety, it is a requirement that you dog be current on all of his/her vaccinations. ***Please bring only dogs that will do well in a large crowd, are well socialized with other dogs, and are comfortable around a variety of people. Make sure dogs are also wearing ID tags***.

7. May I walk with an animal other than a dog?

8. What is the Pup Show contest? Where do I register for the Pup Show contests and how much do they cost?

During the Bark in the Park Festival, Pup Show contests will run every 30 minutes with a variety of categories (e.g. Best Tail Wag, Best Tricks, and Best Kisser etc.). Each contest is designed to be a fun way to engage with you and your pets during the event, and all proceeds made from each contest will go to the Sacramento SPCA. Each contest entry is $5.00. Interested participants can register for their selected events at the registration table in front of each contest location. Locations can be found on the event map provided on event day.

9. Where do I park?

The Sacramento City College parking structure is the largest, easiest parking option we have reserved for attendees on the day of the event.  You will enter through the Panther Pathway off Sutterville Road to enter the college parking structure. Please be mindful of street parking and William Land Park Parking – many street and park-side options have limitations and restrictions.

10. What is the difference between registering as an individual vs. participating on a team?

Individual registrants receive a basic short sleeved event t-shirt as well as admittance into the walk and festival area (individuals are able to create fundraising pages and be eligible for fundraising incentives). Team members receive a long-sleeved tech t-shirt and opportunities to win additional team fundraising prizes. Team fundraising plays a vital role in the success of the Doggy Dash! Teams not only raise the majority of our fundraising dollars, but they create a sense of community, spirit and overall fun! Grab your friends, family and/or co-workers and start a team today!

11. Fundraising: How do I get offline donations to the Sacramento SPCA?

Donations given directly to you can be mailed or brought to the Sacramento SPCA. Our address is 6201 Florin Perkins Road, Sacramento, CA 95828, Attn: Doggy Dash 2017. You can also bring them with you when you pick up your t-shirt and registration packet (SEE ANSWER TO QUESTION 2 REGARDING PACKET PICK-UP PRIOR TO EVENT DAY) . The Sacramento SPCA will process the gifts and count them with any online fundraising you’ve done to determine your individual fundraising prizes.

12. Fundraising: How will the money I raise be spent?

Net proceeds from the event will go toward caring for more than 7,000 animals at the Sacramento SPCA each year. As a non-profit organization, your support truly makes a difference!

13. Fundraising: What if I cannot attend the event, but I want to raise money for the animals?

We applaud and thank you, and will miss you at the event. You can fundraise for the event the same as those who are able to attend. Any prizes you have earned through your fundraising will be available for pick-up from the Sacramento SPCA.

14. Fundraising: When is the last day to qualify for prizes?

You can continue to raise funds for the animals through April 14th to count towards your individual prize winnings. Top three individual fundraisers and top three team fundraiser winners will be announced on event day and donations that come in after April 8th will only be counted for individual prize levels and will not alter top three winning categories.

15. Fundraising: Will my donors receive receipts from the Sacramento SPCA for tax purposes?

Yes. Those who donate online will receive an email confirmation receipt. Those who donate offline and provide complete information (name, address, donation amount) will receive a letter confirmation and receipt in the mail.
